Volunteers for a Clean Brighton

The Locals in Brighton are elated about keeping their city tidy through the planned out clean-up operation.

The ambassador programme called #LitterHeroes by Keep Britain Tidy is a charity catered to the environment which seeks to address litter pollution.

Different volunteers from across the country comprise the Tidy Up Team In both the cities of Brighton and Hove. These are the same kind-hearted volunteers for cleanliness who run other environmental projects like the Green Flag Award for greeneries and the Blue Flag/Seaside Awards for beaches.

New supporters and those who want to become part of their cause are always welcome. The city council organizes their gatherings while the supporters receive regular information to be able to attend the activities of the team. They also conduct brief training sessions and then go out and start their clean-up gig in places where people frequent and pick up litter.

Gary Meyer of Litter Hero said, “ I use the scheme as a support to do my job.” Meyer has been an ambassador of the crusade #LitterHeroes for the last 29 months.

“I would like to see more people in the community set up a constituted group to support the activities we are doing,” he added further.

The #litterheroes are being funded by the people who play the People’s Postcode Lottery. These players donate a percentage of their earnings not only to this cause but to all charities and good causes in Brighton and Hove.

Chief Executive for Keep Britain Tidy Allison Ogden-Newton mentioned, “While we should all care for the environment on our doorstep, there are some people who go above and beyond –supporting and inspiring others with their passion and enthusiasm.”

Ogden-Newton also added how they are delighted that Gary Meyer is supporting their cause by being the #LitterHeroes ambassador.

“Thanks to support from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery, we are now able to give a helping hand to some of these amazing individuals as they inspire others and take action to clean up our country,” the chief executive for Keep Britain Tidy further added.

“It’s fantastic that so many #LitterHeroes ambassadors will be helping clean up streets in communities across the nation with support from players,” head of charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, Laura Chow, said.

“This is a brilliant initiative by Keep Britain Tidy and we hope it’s a great success,” Chow happily stressed.
